Why Polypropylene

Polypropylene performs well in demanding chemical environments.

• Strong resistance to many acids, alkalis, and industrial solutions
• Higher temperature capability than many plastics, often up to about 90 C depending on design
• Low moisture absorption
• Good structural strength at elevated temperatures
• Long service life in corrosive conditions

You get a material that works well for chemical processing and heated liquids.

Design Flexibility

Tank sizing is fully customizable with no standard size limits. Wall thickness is reviewed and approved during early project stages until application guidelines are confirmed. Design considers structural requirements, chemical compatibility, and operating environment.

Material Forming Limits

Practical wall bending radius minimums apply based on material thickness. For example:

• 1 inch thick polypropylene sheet typically forms to diameters of 6 feet or greater.

• 3/8 inch thick material has been successfully fabricated into tanks as small as 36 inches in diameter.

Dimensional Tolerances

Fabricated tanks follow tolerances similar to roto-molded tanks. Overall dimensions are typically within 3 percent. Under normal temperature conditions, material movement is minimal.

High Temperature Applications

For operating temperatures above 40 C and up to 80 C, additional reinforcement or alternative components may be required. Stainless steel bolted systems or CPVC components may be used depending on chemical compatibility and system design.
