The First Flush Advanced is more effective at diverting contaminated water. Its patented high-flow inlet largely solves the problem of fast-moving dirty water “skipping” over or around the diverter entrance on traditional T-junction first flush diverters. With its electronic advanced release valve, the First Flush Advanced gives you greater control over how frequently you release your diverted water. Increase your release frequency to maximize water quality or release the dirty water less frequently to maximize stored water volumes.
The 4" First Flush Plus Downpipe Diverter (model WDDP111) is designed to enhance the quality of harvested rainwater by diverting the initial, most contaminated flow of water away from your storage tank. This initial runoff often contains debris and pollutants from the roof and gutters. The diverter features a patented high-flow inlet that effectively prevents fast-moving dirty water from bypassing the diverter, ensuring that contaminants are captured before cleaner water enters the tank.
The device includes an electronic advanced release valve, allowing you to control the frequency of releasing the diverted water. By adjusting this frequency, you can either maximize water quality by releasing contaminated water more frequently or maximize stored water volumes by releasing it less often.
The diverter is compatible with 4-inch (100 mm) downpipes and requires the addition of a suitable length of 4" PVC pipe to create the diversion chamber. The length of this chamber determines the volume of water diverted; approximately 3 feet of 4" pipe holds about 2 gallons of water. The diverted water is automatically released through a slow-release valve, which can be directed into a standard drip irrigation system or a stormwater drainage system.
